About Us

W.P. Grier Middle School is proud to serve students in grades six through eight in Gaston County. We provide a safe, supportive and welcoming environment where students can learn, grow and succeed. Our school offers strong academic programs, hands-on learning opportunities and a variety of clubs, activities and athletics that help students explore their interests and build confidence.

Starting with the 2025-2026 school year, Grier will be home to the new STEAM Academy. This program gives students exciting opportunities to explore science, technology, engineering, the arts and math through real-world, engaging learning experiences.

Grier is also one of 10 innovation schools offered by Gaston County Schools for the 2025-2026 school year. This special designation highlights our commitment to providing creative and forward-thinking learning programs for students.

At Grier, our dedicated teachers and staff work together to help every student reach their full potential. We focus on preparing students for high school and beyond while encouraging them to be respectful, responsible and ready to learn each day.
